The following is an excerpt from the “Teaching Philosophy”
My job is to help the student develop the necessary skills to read music, understand music theory, play with proper technique, and perform musically. My goal is to train the student to function independently as a musician, and share in the lifetime benefits that music provides. I believe it is my duty to take advantage of the opportunities that God has provided for me in the field of music. I enjoy sharing the gift of music and feel a responsibility to provide a well rounded musical education. I strive to build confidence in the student’s ability to perform what they have learned. It is my obligation to do my best to serve God in this capacity; to make a difference in the lives of my students by influencing them and cultivating the intrinsic motivation that already exists. ~ Sharla Van Cleave, NCTM
Home School Band
The BCHE Homeschool Band now meets in the Brooks home
1002 Reeves St. Abilene
Weds. At 2:30 PM.
Beginners take weekly lessons and attend beginning band. The cost for this group is $50.00 a month.
Intermediates, on the other hand, have a foundation and are capable of participating successfully in the band only program.
However, if a student and his/her parents really want progress, private lessons are very important. Lessons and band for intermediates, $50.00 monthly.
Band alone $25.00.
I also teach beginning piano from my home, 10.00 each lesson, starting as young as six.
